Sure, love is simple when its apple pie & ice cream or UK basketball & bourbon. People asked Jesus what the greatest command was and he simply summed it up with, love God and love people. Simple, right?
Not so much when it comes to the idiot who forgot how to use a turn signal or the annoying person who doesn’t start the next pot of coffee when there are only two drops left. Choosing love is anything but simple when the desires of others conflict with the desires of self.
When I get home from work tired and ready to reward myself with some couch time, it’s hard to play house or change a dirty diaper. Sometimes love is demanding, messy, and complex. There isn’t going to be anything simple about following Hannah on her first date without getting caught. Love isn’t always simple when it comes to everyday living.
Yet, in the midst of everyday living the answer is simple to how we should live, respond and act. Love. The difficulty for me is consistently matching my actions with my ideas.
Simple. Love. It’s worth it, after all what’s the alternative?
What comes to your mind when you think of these two words?
