Our road to adoption has had many bends and turns. Nina has two blood clotting disorders that were unknown during our first pregnancy. This caused Hannah Mae to be delivered 10 weeks early weighing a whopping 1 lb 15oz. Miraculously, Nina and Hannah suffered no long term ill effects. Doctors believed that we would still be able to have more children but after many specialists, and miscarriages we accepted that God had a different plan for our family. We both want Hannah to have a brother or sister and long to raise and love another child. The desire in our heart to adopt has been affirmed by much study, thought and prayer. We can’t wait to welcome another child into our home through the gift of adoption.
There were many things we needed to consider when we decided to start the adoption process. For example, do we go through an agency, if so which one? Do we adopt domestically or internationally? Do we have an open, semi-open or closed adoption? Won’t go into all the details here other than to say we have chosen to have an open domestic adoption through an agency called Love Basket (www.lovebasket.org). We will be putting some posts on the blog section in the near future that explain what helped us make some of our decisions.
Thanks for taking time to learn about our adoption journey.
Love,
Travis & Nina
